Tone model · Runs on your Mac

Tone reminders, from two small models.

Parroting includes Chinese X6At and English EN2 tone models. Each sentence is checked for its language, so you can mix English and Chinese freely. On your Mac, they read what you are about to send and the situation around it, then decide whether to remind you. No internet connection or AI key needed.

English tone model · EN2

English reminders before you send.

EN2 is about 15 MB, built on google/electra-small-discriminator under Apache-2.0. It runs on your Mac, needs no API key and sends no text anywhere. It can flag harsh, passive-aggressive or overly casual wording for the situation. Personal tone training works in English too.

On the English check set, it caught harsh messages in 8 of 9, 9 of 9 and 8 of 9 cases across three contexts, with no false alarms on calm sentences.

What it reads

What you are about to say,
plus the situation.

When you finish dictating or typing, Parroting reads the context of the current window and passes it to the model together with the sentence you are about to send.

  • Which app you are in and what you are doing: replying to email, chatting, a group, a document
  • Who and what it is about: the recipient, the chat partner, the email subject
  • The last few messages in the conversation and any unsent draft
  • The sentence you are about to send
Context is read only at the moment you type, never in the background. It is used on your Mac and never uploaded.

What it decides

One sentence, seven readings.

This is what Parroting reads from one sentence before you send it. Your settings then decide whether to remind you.

What personal training trains

Your feedback trains
a layer that is only yours.

The built-in tone model is the starting point. After you tap “Hint was wrong” on a reminder and confirm it, Parroting trains a personal layer on top of it, right on this Mac, so reminders grow closer to your own sense of tone.

  1. Collect feedback

Tap “Hint was wrong” on a reminder, then confirm it in Review on the Personalization page. Training needs at least 20 confirmed items.

  2. Train on your Mac

Training happens on this Mac. Your data is not uploaded. The personal layer only adjusts tone and reminder judgements.

  3. Check the result

One in every five confirmed sentences is held back from training and used to test the new judgement, and built-in check sentences make sure overall judgement has not become worse. If it does not pass, it cannot be used.

  4. Use or roll back

Each version is kept in a history. You can roll back to the previous version, or return to the original model, at any time.

Note: dictionary vs. training
Dictionary: fixes misheard words. Once you confirm, they come out right next time.
Personal training: adjusts tone reminders to match your sense of tone.

Let it get to know you.
